Pathology
The Pathology department in Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH) is providing diagnostic services to the psychiatric patients in the OPD, Emergency, Indoor and Addiction Ward. The mission of the Pathology department is to provide efficient, comprehensive and high-quality diagnostic services for the optimal patient outcome and health. We are committed to strategies that result in continuous improvement of quality of our services.
The medical staff of this department comprises of two qualified pathologists and a medical officer. The laboratory is equipped with advance equipment i.e. CBC Analyzers, Semi-Automated Chemistry Analyzers Electrolyte Analyzers, Centrifuge Machines and state-of-the-art Microscopes.
Services and Facilities
Services provided by the Pathology Department are:
- All baseline investigations of Indoor psychiatric patients free of cost
- Providing diagnostic tests for Outdoor psychiatric patients
- Providing the said facilities for Emergency patients of this hospital free of cost
- Screening of patients for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV
- Urine Multidrug test for the Suspected Substance Abuse patients from Indoor, Outdoor, other institutes as well as medico legal cases referred from courts
- Diagnostic tests of the patients from Critical Care and Emergency Units are being done on top priority bases
- The critical lab results are recorded in a special register and are immediately informed to the concerned doctor for proper treatment
- All safety protocols of the laboratory are followed to the best
- Laboratory is registered with Punjab Healthcare Commission and all the indicators are met
- Computerized record of all the investigation done is kept and maintained
- Developing collaboration with Services Hospital for providing specialized tests of the psychiatric patients free of cost which are not available in this laboratory
