Punjab Institute of Mental Health, Lahore is the only specialized tertiary healthcare facility in public sector which is responsible for providing healthcare services/facilities to mentally ill (Neurotic, Psychotics, Epileptics and Addicts etc.) patients, enabling them as productive members of family and safe for communities. In ADP Scheme No.730 for the year 2014 – 15, the upgradation of PIMH (installation of MIS) had taken place. The Scheme includes following:

  • Provision of Desktop Computers, Laptops, Multimedia, Printers, UPSs and Accessories
  • Data Collection Hubs
  • Software (Desktop Solutions, Web Base Solutions, Web Portal Services, Networking Solution and Training on IT Solutions)  
  • Human Resources (Computer Programmer, Computer Operator and Training of PIMH Staff)
  • Furniture and Office Equipment for IT

It is a 1510-bedded hospital where patient from every nook and corner of the country report for treatment. The institute deals with 6000-7000 acute cases which are admitted per year whereas the OPD attendance is around 700-800 patient/day. The patients of all categories ranging from depressive illness to schizophrenia are attended here while there is a separate unit to treat the addicts. There are also other allied departments as well which include Electro Convulsive Therapy Unit, Occupational Therapy Unit, Laboratory, Kitchen, Laundry etc. to cater all needs of the patients. All the facilities including boarding and lodging are provided free of cost. Data is being collected digitally due to the facility of computerization in this hospital (OPD, Emergency, Labs and Pharmacy) by using Information Technology techniques for planning and resource allocations which helps in keeping complete record of the patients for:
